About
The Resonance Instrument Database (ResonanceDB) aims to be a comprehensive and powerful online database of free audio samples and instrument sounds and also provide a place for users to share their own creations. Currently supported file formats include: SoundFont 2, DLS and GigaSampler.

You are encouraged to register an account for additional functionality including: post to forums, customize preferences and filters, submit files, track files you have downloaded and comments you have made, rate files and more. This database was created with 100% free software and is an extension of Project Swami - a collection of software projects for managing and editing instrument sounds.

We hope you enjoy ResonanceDB and invite you to send any comments, suggestions, bug reports, or help requests to your admin and programmer:

reCAPTCHA for the win!

Anonymous comments and registrations are now unfriendly to bots. Take that you inorganic piles of bits!

Spam attack

It seems the anonymous comments are getting spammed. For the moment we will just keep deleting them manually, but a long term solution such as reCAPTCHA support or perhaps just turning off anonymous comments is in order. Why couldn't have spam just remained a tasty processed snack?

A new beginning

Much time has passed, with the Resonance Instrument Database being in a non-operational state. Today I'm very excited to announce, that it is finally ready for use. Forums have been created for discussions and ZIP archives are being used currently for instruments until CRAM is stabilized. If you'd like to help out, create yourself an account, scour the net for good free instruments and submit them to the database. If you have authored your own instruments, we would be honored for you to submit your work. If any problems are encountered, please contact the admin so that we can fix them. Happy music making!

Importing madness

Efforts are currently underway to import free instruments found on the Internet. This is a rather time consuming undertaking though and we're discovering bugs in PatchesDB as we go along and adding new features too. There are still somethings left before the big announcement though.

Almost back in operation

Its been over 2 years since this database was almost ready for testing, then somehow I got distracted by other things. There are still a number of TODO items before I feel that the ResonanceDB is ready for public usage. If you are interested in mirroring the instrument files, please let us know.
